I am Assistant Professor at the Physics Department, Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa (IST), and Researcher at LIP. I am the coordinator of the Portuguese ATLAS Group and I represent the Portuguese team at the ATLAS Institute Board and National Contact Physicist groups. I am also the Portuguese representative person at ECFA, the European Committee for Future Accelerators.

 

I studied Physis at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and did my PhD working in the HERA-B experiment at DESY (Hamburg, Germany), in collaboration with a group from the Universitat de Barcelona (Spain). After one year as Research Fellow at DESY and two years at CERN, also as Research Fellow, I joined LIP, first as a postdoc and then as researcher.

 

I am an active member of the ATLAS Collaboration since 2005. My main contributions to ATLAS went into the Trigger and Data Acquisition systems, the Forward Detectors and Physics analysis. After contributing to the Higgs boson discovery, my main research objectives are now focused on the Higgs sector and, in particular, the measurement of the Higgs couplings to bosons and fermions.

I am also developing advanced processing algorithms using Graphical Processing Units (GPU) as accelerators for the ATLAS Upgrades.
