Broadly, my research activity is centred on the development of Big Data processing and analysis systems for Astrophysics and their scientific exploitation. I coordinate the national participation in the Gaia mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). Within the Gaia collaboration, I am responsible for the development of Gaia Archive Visualisation Service (GAVS), which is the public service for visualising the Gaia mission products (2 billion objects, 1 petabyte), and I contribute to the characterisation of the time series of variable sources detected by the satellite.
