Description
This call is a continuation of the PIANOFORTE partnership (European Partnership for Research into Radiation Protection and Detection of Ionising Radiation). It represents the EU's contribution for 2026–2027.
Key focus areas:
- Improving radiation risk estimates for public, patients, workers, and the environment
- Advancing understanding of radiation effects (cancer and non-cancer)
- Integrative radiobiology — from basic mechanisms to clinical and epidemiological applications
- Medical applications of ionising radiation (dosimetry, risk/benefit, patient protection)
- Nuclear/radiological emergency preparedness and response
- Quality assurance for measurements (traceability, uncertainties)
- Training, research infrastructure access, data FAIRisation
- Public engagement and communication on radiation risks
Important notes:
- This is an amendment to an existing grant (GA 101061037) — the proposal must be submitted by the current PIANOFORTE coordinator
- Additional partners can be included
- Involves co-funding with national/regional programmes and joint transnational calls
